Little Mix defend their raunchy tour outfits and insist they’re not too hot for young fans. Leigh-Anne, 24, Jesy, 24, Jade, 23, and Perrie, 22, looked stunning in a medley of hot pants as they kicked off their tour in Cardiff.
Little Mix’s stage costumes for their Get Weird tour are pants… pants…and more pants. The bigger the better. And if you don’t like it, well, knickers to you, say the girls.
They had four costume changes when the tour kicked off in Cardiff on Sunday, and strutted their stuff on stage in a medley of hot pants. But Leigh-Anne, 24, Jesy, 24, Jade, 23, and Perrie, 22, are confident their stage outfits are not too raunchy for their young, mainly female, fans. Perrie tells us: “We wear what we feel comfortable in. We’re not overly sexy in what we do anyway. We go for sexy/cute. We’d never want to be scandalous.
“I think we’ve got the right kind of balance. Some of us are 24. We aren’t going to be able to wear stuff like this for the rest of our life, and parade around in little dresses and stuff, but at the same time, we are just girls.”
Asked whether she agrees with Kim Kardashian that showing off a fabulous figure is “empowering”, Perrie says: “The way I see it, when I see Leigh-Anne in a bikini on holiday, I don’t think, ‘Oh God, Leigh-Anne, put it away’.
“I look at her and think, ‘Yes girl, you’ve got one of the most insane figures I’ve ever seen. You f***ing rock that on the beach, because I would’. Girls should be like that.
“We need to encourage each other and if you don’t want to have your body out then you don’t have to.
“I never used to want to get my figure out, but now I’m like, ‘Yes, here it is’.”
The girls’ stage outfits include one in latex for a number that sees their male dancers gagged and in leather harnesses.
But Leigh-Anne insists she and the other girls would “definitely” refuse outfits if they felt they were too revealing.
She says: “If we weren’t comfortable we just wouldn’t wear it.
“It’s not about being overly sexy, but it’s showing off your assets that you want to show off and if you feel confident in it, then boom.”
And those pants are practical.
Perrie says: “We put on such a big show and there’s a lot of dancing and it gets really hot out there. I like to feel free and have something I can move around in. Something pretty with lots of stretch in it.”
The Get Weird tour moves to Brighton tonight and will take in Asia, Europe and Australia over the next few months. (source)
